About this video
A 20 minute gentle yoga flow designed to open your heart and strengthen the spine. This practice is suitable for beginners or if you’re looking for an easy going practice.
Our spine is supposed to bend both ways but most often we forward fold. Back bends help to restore the natural flexibility of the spine whilst improving posture and spine health. Opening the chest allows us to breathe better which decreases anxiety, improves sleep quality, energy levels and digestion. Opening the heart unblocks stuck energy helping to heal our emotional and psychological wounds.
We begin in Bridge (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana), rolling up and down to gently awaken the spine. Explore Heart to Earth Pose (Anahatasana) and Sphinx (Salamba Bhujangasana) to receive a fresh burst of energy. Build heat in the body with dynamic High Lunge (Ashta Chandrasana) and Bow pose (Dhanurasana) before resting in Childs Pose (Balasana).
As always, practice mindfully and if something doesn’t feel right – don’t do it.
